3D Printing

Augusta County Library provides 3D printing to encourage creativity, learning, and exploration of STEAM activities and education. The library’s Prusa i3 3D printer uses uploaded digital files to create three-dimensional objects from plastic filament, operated by trained library staff only.

To get started, you’ll need:

  • A valid Valley Libraries library card
  • A file in .stl or .obj format
  • Staff approval before printing begins

Submit your file in person at any Augusta County Library location or email it to ask@augustacountylibrary.org. Need a model? Browse free designs at Thingiverse, Pinshape, YouMagine, Shapeways, or 123D App.

Pickup & Payment

  • Half or full payment must be made when the order is placed
  • Objects must be picked up within seven days of completion
  • Objects not picked up or not paid in full after seven days are forfeited to the library
  • The library is not responsible for the quality or functionality of printed objects

Please note:

  • Library use of the 3D printer takes priority over patron requests
  • Objects requiring many hours or multiple components may be moved back in the queue
  • Library filament must be used; personal filament is not accepted
  • The library reserves the right to refuse any print request

The 3D printer cannot be used to print objects that are obscene or inappropriate, may be construed as having intent to harm, violate intellectual property or copyright laws, or are otherwise illegal under state or federal law.
