How do I get a library card?
Library cards are free to all Virginia residents. Apply online or visit any Augusta County Library location with a valid photo ID or proof of address.
How long can I keep items I’ve borrowed?
Loan periods vary by material type — most items check out for 21 days. All eligible items are automatically renewed up to three times unless another patron has placed a hold.
Does Augusta County Library charge overdue fines?
No. Augusta County Library is fine-free. You will not be charged for overdue items, though fees still apply for lost or damaged materials.
Where can I return items?
You may return materials at any Augusta County Library location or book drop, as well as the book drops at Staunton Public Library and Waynesboro Public Library.
How do I place a hold?
You can place a hold online through the catalog, by calling any location, or by asking staff at the Help Desk. There is no charge to place a hold, with a limit of 15 holds per card at one time.
Can I use my Augusta County Library card at other libraries?
Yes. Your card works at all three Valley Libraries Connection locations — Augusta County, Staunton, and Waynesboro — giving you access to all three collections.
How do I access digital resources from home?
Most digital resources are available 24/7 with your library card. Visit our Online Services and Digital Resources pages to get started.
How do I reserve a meeting room?
Meeting rooms are available at Fishersville, Churchville, Stuarts Draft, and Weyers Cave. Contact your preferred location directly to check availability.
