Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Augusta County Library Foundation (FACLF) is dedicated to supporting and advocating for Augusta County Library. Founded in 1978, the Friends have been a vital part of keeping the library strong for over four decades — and anyone is welcome to join.

What the Friends Do

The FACLF provides funding and volunteer support that goes beyond what state and local tax dollars cover, including:

  • Literacy programs for children
  • Craft activities, lectures, and exhibits
  • Training opportunities and recognition events for library staff
  • Garden enhancements at library locations
  • Community outreach and advocacy
  • Book donation management and the ongoing Friends Book Sale program
  • Financial support for long-term priorities and capital improvements

Our History

The Friends of the Augusta County Library was founded in 1978 as a charitable arm of the library. The Augusta County Library Foundation followed in 2008, focused on raising capital for larger, long-term initiatives. In January 2023 the two organizations merged into a single nonprofit — the Friends of the Augusta County Library Foundation — combining their missions and resources to better serve the community.
