Memory Lab
Have old family photographs you’d like to digitize? Family stories or local legends worth preserving? Augusta County Library’s Memory Lab gives community members access to professional digitizing and recording equipment — free to use at the Stuarts Draft Library Station.

Available Equipment

  • Epson FastFoto FF-680W — High-speed photo scanner
  • Epson Perfection V39 II — Color photo and document flatbed scanner
  • Sony ICD-UX570 Digital Voice Recorder — For recording family stories, oral histories, and more

What to Bring

Bring your own jump drive or other storage media to save your digitized files. The library is not responsible for projects that do not turn out as expected.

You also have the option of allowing Augusta County Library to save a copy of your files for public access — just complete and sign the Release Form at the time of your visit.

Reserve the Memory Lab

Reservations are required and can be made up to two weeks in advance through the Book a Librarian Appointment Request Form. A basic training session is required before your first use.

  • Up to two hours per day
  • Available to all library patrons
  • Users 16 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
  • If you require staff assistance, indicate this when making your reservation
  • Reservations not claimed within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time may be released to others

Memory Lab Guidelines

By submitting a reservation request you agree to the following guidelines.

During Your Session

  • Follow all safety guidelines provided during your training session
  • Do not leave equipment unattended while in operation
  • Clean the surrounding work area after your session
  • Report any issues or malfunctions to library staff immediately

Liability

  • Augusta County Library is not responsible for injuries or damages incurred while using the Memory Lab equipment
  • Users who damage equipment due to negligence may be held responsible for repair or replacement costs

Violations

  • Library staff reserve the right to deny access to any individual who violates these guidelines
  • Failure to follow guidelines may result in suspension of Memory Lab privileges
